Jacques Fath Perfumes

Rebirth of a legend

Like a Phoenix, Jacques Fath perfumes are alive again. The famous fashion house was at the peak
of its glory during the life of Jacques Fath himself, but with time, it was forgotten and turned to dust. Yet again, it is re-born, restored with 4 perfumes in the line made by the famous Cécile Zarokian. She is very well known for her creations for MDCI, Jovoy and Puredistance. Famous name, famous perfumer and nice packaging, that should be a recipe for success, no?
Jacques Fath was a French fashion designer who was considered one of the three dominant influences on postwar haute-couture. Others at his time were Christian Dior and Pierre Balmain. As self-taught designer who learned his craft from studying museum exhibitions and books about fashion, Fath hired a number of young designers as assistants and apprentices, some of which later went on to form their own houses, including Hubert de Givenchy, Guy Laroche, and Valentino Garavani. When among your clients were Ava Gardner, Greta Garbo and Rita Hayworth, it is a big heritage you need to follow. That is why I asked Panouge, a company that owns Jacques Fath Perfumes, few questions.

Jacques Fath Curacao Bay

This brand is very famous. Who decided to make it alive again? Why Jacques Fath of all the historic houses?

The house Jacques Fath was bought by the company called Panouge in 2008. That transfer included mythical creations that were already incorporated in Fath line, such as Green Water and Fath de Fath. Two years after, the creative director of Fath, Rania Naim, decided to do different perfumes and to create the collection that is in the harmony with Fath's original creations that included trial to capture distinctive raw materials and luxury.

What formulations do you use? Are all of them old formulas?

Green Water was reformulated after its original smell from 1946, while for the original formula, Cécile Zarokian didn't have the access. Therefore, she was guided by Mister Jean Kerléo, founder of Osmotheque, who gave her traces of historic elements. In the epoch, big quantities of neroli were used in Green Water. Cécile also did the same for the actual perfume. As for the other perfumes - Bel Ambre, Vers Le Sud, Curacao Bay, they are all new formulas.

Why did you choose Cécile Zarokian?

When Rania met Cécile few years ago, she was overwhelmed with Cécile's personality and determination. While Rania was discovering what Cécile has made, it was obvious that she is an ideal perfumer for the re-making the Jacques Fath perfumes. We could say that Jacques Fath perfumes are the result of chemistry and collaboration between two women.

Jacques Fath Green Water

If you like classic creations, you will enjoy this line very much. There are four perfumes, but every one of them has a specific theme. I do not know how Green Water smelled like before, but I heard that was a gorgeous perfume. Cécile Zarokian made a beautiful composition that can become classic again. Green Water is based on refreshing citrus in the opening, clean neroli, green mint and sweet camomile. It is not easy to make interesting citrus scent, but this one is.

I like figs a lot. They remind me of my childhood. Naturally, Vers Le Sud is beautiful creation of fruity and creamy notes that are similar to sun lotion. Curacao Bay may be interesting for many because it is almost transparent on skin. There is a watery note of coumarin inside that makes it pale, blue and fresh. As the name suggests, Bel Ambre is very light perfume with vanilla and warm woody tones.

Like I said, those who are into classic compositions, might like this one because you will want to shower in this perfumes.
