Parfumerie Générale Indian Wood & Bouquet Massaï

Reworks of Pierre Guillaume are more delicious than before

Indian Wood, theme N° 11

In many articles, I praised Pierre Guillaume as one of the most talented perfumers today. I mean it because he just confirms it with every new creation. There is some touch that is so refined and raw at the same time. Perhaps, that is the key why I like him so much.
Latest creations tell the story of reworked perfumes. He used the original formula to upgrade it with new molecules and the result was something new.

Indian Wood is made on the basis of Harmatan Noir that was exploring the molecule of citrus mint and Jamaican allspice on a woody base of cedar and dried jasmine blossoms. It sounds like almost you can eat it, no? The same structure goes into some aromatic theme with very soft and utterly smooth dry down. There are still traces of spicy mint and beautiful powdery warmness of cardamon. Touch of woody musk with sandalwood makes this perfume to smell like the softest cashmere foulard that vies you comfort and warmth. There is no much of Indian theme inside, but more likely warm woody composition that finishes with coconut touch. So elegant creation. I imagine a dinner for two in a baroque restaurant with silk and velvet details while the soft woody scent lingers in the air...

Bouquet Massaï, theme N° 10

This is a theme dedicated to coffee and the cashmere wood. Aomassaï, the original composition made a boom in a perfume community. It is still a masterpiece with the notes synthesized inside. It is beautiful to see a new take on that one. This is a perfume with a witty twist because it fools you - it starts with a note of coffee and wood while it turns into completely unexpected oriental floral bouquet of peonies and magnolia. It is much more fruity and playful than the Indian Wood, but beneath, there is something similar, their blood line.

With this new molecules, Pierre Guillaume shows that he really knows what he is doing. The maneuvers are brilliant. There is a refined touch of balance and some wild moments. He shows that he is not afraid to use chemicals to construct beautiful and deep compositions. Definitively, he is growing every year and there is a special signature in his perfume which I like from the beginning.
