This perfume is one of those when words are not enough to describe it. Sometimes, the one is simply afraid of not capturing well the grandiosity of perfume. Parfum d'Habit is certainly one of the monuments of the modern perfumery. It's the one that marked the era and it still rocks.

What great classics symbolize in modern perfumery, Parfum d'Habit symbolize in selective or niche perfume world. It is one of the pillars of niche movement and the embodiment of masculinity. There are only few perfumes that paved a way so strongly and left a trace in perfume community. So far, I didn't meet any perfumista that has to say something negative about this one. I think that even Luca Turin thinks all the best about this Maître et Gantier.

No wonder, it is the creation from 1988 by Jean-Paul Millet Lage who marked the era of niche perfumes. Those years were crucial for the niche market and Jean-Paul played a major role. It was L'Artisan who entered in the game too, under his tutorship. Undeniably, he will leave a beautiful trace in perfume history with his legendary, unforgettable creations.  

There are only two perfumes of this type in the world. One is Parfum d'Habit and the other is Guerlain Habit Rouge. The latter is created in 60'ies and became a legendary perfume of Jean-Paul Guerlain. It was a dandy and gentleman symbol at the time. Habit Rouge had and still has smooth, sublime leather note of grand luxe. It is impeccable scent of confident man who knows what good details are.

The packaging of Parfum d'Habit

The second one that belongs to the same aesthetics is Parfum d'Habit, of course. It's the ultimate dandy perfume for a man who carelessly wears genius couture pieces with captivating details. It rightfully belonged to "Les Caprices du Dandy" collection when it was launched because the perfume stimulated chic Parisian public. Other bloggers refer to it as aristocrat perfume. I also believe it is noble, but gentleman-ish and dandy first. 

I am worshiping this perfume with my friends. One of them is my Master thesis mentor, Mr. Zoran Kurelic, who showed me the world of niche perfumes. He is also passionate perfumista and essentric genious scientist. He said for Parfum d'Habit: "it's the perfume for a gentleman who is not ashamed to carry a bouquet of flowers to his mistress although he has attention of people. Casual elegance.". I couldnt' agree more. It's an elegant, seductive perfume that immediately ranks you higher among women. 

The formula has been slightly changed. The opening is composed of Petitgrain and blackcurrant buds, just like before. In the heart, the leather is not as opulent and deep as it was, but it's still gorgeous and eternally beautiful. The finish is made with soft amber, sandalwood and vanilla. 

Parfum d'Habit is THE one that you will wear with your outerwear, beautiful suit or tuxedo and patina shoes. As soon as the night falls, you are ready to embrace the night and sing Frank Sinatra's Strangers in the Night. That is Parfum d'Habit.
